Parker Upholstery Shop has become a go-to place for designers and anyone with pre-loved furniture in need of repair, from residential and commercial work to fine antiques. Our Upholstery Shop’s mission is to bring furniture back to life. It may sound simple, but the process is often long and complicated, and each project is an exploration into the soul and history of the piece, as old fabric is stripped off and the bones of the furniture are revealed.

Parker Upholstery Shop has extensive experience in working with heirlooms and antiques, performing restorations. Earl Parker especially loves to work on family heirlooms and bringing older pieces back to life. Older pieces of furniture were constructed differently to modern pieces and it is Earl's years of experience that allows him to be able to restore pieces to the way they would have looked when they were first made, using the same types and methods of construction as were used originally.

Earl Parker started his apprenticeship in upholstery in 1982 and started his first shop in New York in 1986. He has been successfully helping people with their upholstery needs since then. He started out in New York and moved to Clayton in 1991 where he has been based ever since. Although much of his work is local, due to the depth of his experience, his shop accepts work from across the state and even, still, from New York. Customers from as far afield as Florida, Texas and Massachusetts have sent pieces to Earl for refurbishing.

We are based near Clayton, North Carolina, and we also do patio cushions and decorative pillows; custom headboards; and window cornices. We have a wide selection of fabric samples and can source fabric for clients. We do custom replacement cushion inserts, where cushions have collapsed, deteriorated or been damaged. We offer in-home repair services for damaged or torn fabric; tightening of frames, rewebbing, and missing buttons.  We work with cane furniture as well.  Parker Upholstery is also able to take on corporate, school and institutional clients. Quality is a keystone of the work done by Parker Upholstery - you pay for our services only after you are completely satisfied with our workmanship.

For some of the amazing transformations that we have done with old, tired pieces that have good bones, please look at our galleries and we post a new before and after project each month in Stuffing.
